Quarter Mile Foundation plans for 2012 SEMA Show announced

Parma Heights, Ohio (October 2, 2012) – The Quarter Mile Foundation announces it will once again have a prominent presence at the 2012 SEMA Show.  According to Traci Hrudka, the Foundation’s chairman, the Foundation has been positioned in the same location it occupied in 2011.

She commented, “Thanks to the continuing efforts on the Foundation’s behalf by SEMA and CONVEXX management, and in particular, Peter MacGillivray (SEMA Vice President, Events & Communications) and Chuck Schwartz (Chairman of CONVEXX), the Foundation will have the same excellent location in the Grand Concourse area of the Las Vegas Convention Center as it had last year.  Additionally, we have been provided a quiet room to conduct interviews with the pioneers of the industry and drag racing attending or participating in the show.

“The booth 10900 location is in a very high traffic, high visibility area between the North and Central Halls.  The location, between two major entrances to the North Hall as well as the high traffic hallway to the Cab Stand area, proved to be an excellent position to share our goals and accomplishments with show attendees and the other exhibitors. ”

The Foundation’s digital video interviews of industry and drag racing pioneers throughout the course of the show are a critical part of the show presence.  These first person narratives are at the core of the PROJECT 1320 documentary film series about the birth and growth of drag racing and the performance automotive aftermarket between the late 1940s to theend of the ’80s.

The Foundation has accumulated 178 pioneer interviews of with over 220 hours of footage. The interview process will continue in Atlanta, Ga. in October prior to the SEMA Show interviews. The pioneers to be interviewed will include:  Warren Johnson, Scotty Cannon, Skeeter Jourdan, Phil Bonner and Ricky Smith.

The Foundation’s activities for the 2012 show also include appearances by two well-known industry icons, Linda Vaughn and Kenny Youngblood.  Linda will be signing autographs while Kenny will be creating his remarkable race car artwork.
